Later this month, Chefs Maryann Terillo (formerly of Jarnac) and Elisa Sarno (formerly of Babbo) will open their Bistro de la Gare at 626 Hudson Street. There, these two celebrated chefs will blend their French and Italian culinary influences and serve “a market driven menu” composed of quality seasonal ingredients. They will tap the best local purveyors like Ottomanelli Meats and Il Laboratorio del Gelato, and all of the bread and pasta will be made fresh on the premises. Some dishes we can look forward to are: Grilled Chicken Breast Salad with House Roasted Peppers and Marinated Mushrooms, Hamburger on Housemade English Muffin with Mixed Green Salad or Hand-cut Fries, Housemade Bucatini with Pork Ragu, and Braised Brisket Sandwich on Kaiser Roll. Regrettably, I will not be able to make it to Bistro de la Gare’s opening on January 20, but expect a review as soon as I come back to the States. This place promises to be great with these two enthusiastic and experienced women at the helm.
You can follow the trials, tribulations, and successes of opening a restaurant in NYC on Maryann and Elisa’s blog here.
