This may look like a katieparla-sized portion, but I assure you I shared this feast with friends. For our last breakfast in NYC, Şemsa and I met Sara Rosso at Dominique Ansel’s bakery for coffee and pastries. And one flourless chocolate cookie. Ansel was the Executive Pastry Chef at Daniel, but you won’t find over the top opulent creaties here, just solid, straight-forward French-style pastries. We went for some croissants, a pair of cannelés de Bordeaux, and a “DKA” (Dominique’s Kouign Amann), a caramelized buttery pastry and the chef’s signature creation. In addition to these amazing pastries, the bakery also serves breakfast sandwiches, lunch and early dinner. I’m going back for the beef tongue sandwich ASAP.

Dominique Ansel Bakery is located at 189 Spring Street in Soho. A very special thanks to Vaughn Tan for the recommendation!

  • I’m so embarrassed. You always come to NY and go to places I’ve never ever heard of. Now I have to head downtown to have breakfast here. Looks amazing and there are no places like this by my office in midtown.
