Less than a month ago, I wrote that central Rome has few really high quality gelato shops. Following the success of last year’s gelato aperitivo (ice cream happy hour) I am happy to announce the next two events will be held June 16 and July 14 at Il Gelato di Claudio Torce’ in Piazza Monte d’Oro 91/92 in Rome. Savory gelato will be served with snacks and a glass of wine for €6 (€1 will be donated to Il Pane a Chi Serve, a local food charity). It was just ten days ago that I was lamenting the dearth of spectacular gelato in the center of Rome. Sure there are Gelateria del Teatro, Fior di Luna, and two locations where Claudio Torce’s gelato is sold. But most everything else out there is garbage.
