Rome’s finest wine bar is having their first ever Christmas Eve dinner this year. Following tradition, the meal is a fish-based feast. Space is limited so book early. For reservations, contact Casa Bleve directly at +39 066865970. Here is a look at the menu:
Sgombro scottato con burrata di Bufala e pomodori arrosto
Seared mackerel with buffalo’s milk burrata and roasted tomatoes
Catalana di Astice con salsa di mandorle
Shelled langoustines with tomatoes, red onions, and almond sauce
Gnocchi di patate fatti in casa con frutti di mare, fiori di zucca e basilico
Homemade potato gnocchi with mixed seafood, squash blossoms, and basil
Paccheri di Gragnano ripieni di Gamberi Rossi su crema di carciofi
Tube pasta stuffed with red shrimp on a bed of artichoke cream
Branzino con olive taggiasche e finocchi canditi
European sea bass with Taggiasca olives and candied fennel
Zuppetta di moscardini e funghi galletti con chips di patate viola
Tiny octopus and chanterelle mushroom soup with fried purple potatoes
Terrina di fondente e castagne con meringa bruna e salsa al cardamomo

This sounds amazingly delicious!!! Except…we will be attending midnight mass at St. Peter’s (which actually starts at 10pm) and been told we need to be in line by 7pm to secure a seat. So…we were thinking of doing a lunch instead for Christmas Eve.
Katie–do you know what time they are opening for dinner? Or if they are doing anything special for lunch? Their web site doesn’t seem to have any info about this. Thanks!

Katie: We just got back from the buffet lunch at Casa Bleve on Chritmas Eve and let me say…it was amazing!!! Grazie, grazie, grazie!!! The involtini, the mozzarella, the wines and everything else were molto speciale. My partner and two nieces and I cannot stop raving about it. I only regret that we cannot have dinner there tonight as we are going to midnight mass a St. Peter’s.
