Ganapati’s Banana Leaf Thali
Tuesday, 2nd March 2010 | One Comment
Today’s daily food photo comes from Ganapati in London’s Peckham district. On a quiet, residential street off Rye Lane, this restaurant serves south Indian fare, including thali (an array of small portions) on banana leaves. The thali above included rasam (thin soup), dahl (lentils), raita (yogurt dip), thoran (carrots with grated coconut), chicken curry, chutney, and pickles. It all tasted pretty good to me, except for the chicken which was chewy and gristly. I liked the thoran best for its flavors and textures.
