Chez Dumonet’s Wine Cellar

Yesterday I visited the cellar at Chez Dumonet, my new favorite restaurant in Paris. It’s a place I could happily be imprisoned for life, subsisting off the thousands of Crémant de Bordeaux, Pauillac, Margaux, and Sauternes and slivers of foie gras on toast. It wouldn’t be a long life sentence, but it would be a happy one.

Almost exactly 3 years ago I ate at Dumonet for the 1st time and took pictures of my food as always (yummy duck: http://tweetphoto.com/18394919)and the winelist that was very impressive. The chef came by (by chance), saw me, motioned me to give him the camera and went away. I was horrified! Thought he was mad at me and I’d never see my camera again. He returned after a couple of minutes with this picture on my camera: http://tweetphoto.com/18395014
I have been in love ever since.

Yes, Jean-Christian is quite a character. He is an amazing wine collector, a great chef, and a very generous person. I absolutely adore his restaurant.
