Out of Season Eggplant

Dear Fruttivendolo, Why do you insist on stocking so many out of season eggplants? It has rained for the past 100 consecutive days in Italy. The last time I checked, eggplants need the sun to grow and their season is July to October. What gives? Tearfully, Katie

Nope! These are from nearby Campania and those at the organic market in Monti are from Lazio! They grow them in green houses but I have no idea how they did it with all that rain this winter…Sigh…
