Economic Crisis Will Hurt Italian Wine Market

Based on a a study conducted by Winenews and Vinitaly, Italian wine consumers will spend considerably less on wine in 2009. Already this year, 58% of Italians have cut back on their wine purchases due to the poor economy. 47% of Italians will stick to their favorite high quality producers, simply purchasing fewer bottles, a promising sign that not everyone will be abandoning Barolo for Tavernello!
