The Rome Digest

I am super excited to introduce The Rome Digest, a collaborative blog I have been working on with my friends and colleagues Irene de Vette, Sarah May Grunwald, Hande Leimer and Gina Tringali. After months of work and many sleepless nights, the TRD has been released into the wild for your dining, drinking, shopping and leaning enjoyment.

This curated site has 100 reviews of our favorite places to eat, drink and shop for food in Rome and we will be adding many more in the coming weeks and months. Our aim is to promote good food and drink culture in a time it is in steady decline. The small businesses in Rome who are doing good work with great ingredients need our support and attention.

Though we give credit where credit is due, we are at the service of the reader and do not accept sponsored posts or accept free or discounted services in exchange for positive reviews. We write honest, candid reviews of venues so visitors and locals can spend their time and money wisely, while having a great experience.

I will still be posting here, of course, and will continue to cover Rome quite a bit, but am eager to write more about some other cities I love like Istanbul, London and New York. But most of all, I look forward to researching new venues with the four talented TRD co-founders and, in all likelihood, some Parla Food readers as well!

  • Great news, I shall head over there now. Congratulations to all involved.

  • Congratulations to my fav fab five! Well done ladies! Who better to write this blog than 5 of the most dedicated experts on food and drink in Rome. You all are providing such a great service to the local businesses of Rome and to those that come to visit the eternal city expecting an authentic and genuine experience. Grazie mille! Can’t wait to see you all soon.

  • It says:

Armando al Pantheon – A family affair at a stone’s throw from the Pantheon serving up reliable classics such as pasta alla gricia (pasta with chickpeas) and abbacchio (roasted lamb).

paasta alla gricia (pasta with chickpeas)???

  • Well, I guess this explains why we never see you posting on Chowhound these days–and Hande only makes a rare appearance. Congratulations on your newest venture.I wonder if I can convince my husband to head back to Rome on our next trip. He’s leaning toward Florence and it’s his 50th, so he gets to pick this time….

  • Dear Katie:

So excited for you and your friends. The entire concept of your Digest is appealing. I wish you
the very best in your busy new venture.

What we have in common is (as I wrote you years ago,)our two sons David and Jaime are both Jonathan Edwards alums. David is now head of Liver Transplants at Westchester Medical Center and Jaime is an entertainment attorney in New YOrk.

In fact, Jaime and a friend are leaving with Allan and myself for a Viking River Cruise to Southern France. This is the only way Allan and I will cruise – forget the massive cruise ships.

I am delighted to find such a font of info for one of my favorite destinations.

Once again, all the best to all of you.
