Today I came across this web site dedicated to Italian regional street food. Usually I read things like this in Italian but something made me switch to the English page. And I am so glad I did. This was the description for cazzilli, potato croquettes from Sicily:
Even this product is a frier’s shop one from the popular sides of Palermo city. Do not mistake them with the most classical potato nuggets. Apart from the long shape (whose name is clearly ironic and referring to male sex) they are different one from each other above all about taste.
The cazzilli fro Catania are prepared with potatoes, garlic, persil, salt and pepper and are merged in shaked eggs and then in raped bread before being fried.
You can’t make this stuff up!
